Cookie Policy
Last updated: 6 May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies used on getsimplechat.com and inside the embeddable chat widget. For broader privacy details, see our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We also use the browser's sessionStorage and localStorage APIs in some contexts.
2. Cookies on getsimplechat.com
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the site to work. They cannot be disabled.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
simplechat_session | Authenticated session for the dashboard | 7 days inactivity / 30 days max |
simplechat_consent | Stores your cookie consent choices | 12 months |
simplechat_lang | Remembers your selected language | 12 months |
Analytics (optional, opt-in)
If you accept analytics, an anonymous traffic-measurement service may set the following cookies. We use only aggregated, anonymized data — no individual profiling.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Anonymous unique visitor identifier for traffic measurement | 2 years |
EU note (Italian Garante guidelines): our analytics configuration uses IP-anonymization, has Google Signals and ad-personalization features disabled, and does not transfer personal identifiers to advertising networks. Analytics is loaded only after the visitor's explicit opt-in through the cookie banner.
Marketing (optional, opt-in)
If you accept marketing cookies, third-party conversion-measurement pixels may set the following cookies. These help us understand which marketing channels bring the most relevant visitors.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
_fbp | Conversion measurement and remarketing (Meta) | 3 months |
_rdt_uuid | Conversion measurement (Reddit) | 3 months |
Third-party operational cookies
The following cookies are set by third-party services that we rely on for security and payment processing. They are loaded only on the pages where they are needed (the cookie banner and login/checkout flows) and do not track you across unrelated sites.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot-management challenge across the site / widget edge | 30 minutes (rolling) |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that you have passed a security challenge | 30 days |
__stripe_mid | Stripe | Fraud prevention on payment flows | 1 year |
__stripe_sid | Stripe | Fraud prevention session identifier | 30 minutes |
These cookies are set when you visit pages that load Cloudflare's bot-management or Stripe's checkout components. They are necessary for security and payment integrity and cannot be disabled without losing access to those flows.
You can manage your analytics and marketing choices any time through the cookie banner — open it from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer. When you decline a category, the corresponding scripts are not loaded at all.
3. The embedded chat widget
By default the widget uses only the browser's sessionStorage API (not cookies) to keep your conversation alive within the same browser tab. The widget does not set any cookies of its own.
If the operator of the website you're chatting on enables the "visitor memory" feature, the widget stores a random session identifier in your browser's localStorage (key simplechat_session_<botId>) so you can return to the same conversation without losing context. The value is a random session ID — no personal identifier and no profiling. You can clear it any time through your browser's site-data controls.
4. Third-party content inside the widget
If the operator enables the CAPTCHA challenge to fight spam, the privacy-preserving CAPTCHA service used inside the chat surface (Cloudflare Turnstile) performs a small TLS challenge against its edge and may set the operational cookies listed in the third-party operational table above (__cf_bm). It does not set advertising or tracking cookies.
5. Managing your choices
You can withdraw or update your consent any time:
- Click "Cookie preferences" in the footer of any page on this site.
- You can also clear all cookies via your browser settings — strictly-necessary cookies will be re-issued on your next visit.
- Browser-level "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals are respected: when present, we treat them as a refusal of analytics and marketing cookies.
6. Updates
We will update this Cookie Policy when our cookie inventory changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version.
